Swatting away flies as I type this since it's almost summer here in Perth but other than that, I just completely love it here.
So let me kick it off with the first day I was here. Since I've been here before a few years ago, I know what the sun would feel on my skin and how the surrounding ambience will greet me as soon as I get off the plane in Perth International. If you watched my video on Youtube, you would know that my mom came along with me since she had to work on the flight. I approached the driver who was waiting for me at the arrival gate and drove off to my homestay. I was greeted by the hosts, unpacked and was just laying on my bed. Knowing that mom's hotel was 8 kilometers away was a comforting thought and calmed me whenever I would get short bursts of panic attacks.
Sleeping was hard when you're a new place, you just feel like you're closing your eyes for hours and then opening them, never drifting into deep slumber. Second day, I enrolled to Curtin College for Build Environment. Basically, I just think that Build Environment is a fancier way to say that you're taking Architecture. Click here if you want to read more about how I got into Curtin.
Mom left, I remember crying in the bathroom with the shower running so nobody could hear me but my bloodshot eyes and pink nose was a dead giveaway that I've been bawling my eyes out. First day of class (MST001B Mathematics and Statistics) and I immediately made a group of friends and from there, I started feeling more myself. We went out on walks in the city or exploring the parks that Perth is so proudly known for.
Getting to places is easy here, there are punctual busses everywhere. I went to Fremantle to catch the sunset and it was absolutely gorgeous. Everything was washed in golden, then lilac and finally a deep purple before the sun retiring for the day and blanketing the sky with tiny stars. A feast for the eyes. The shops here closes at 5p.m, ridiculous compared to ours but I don't know, I don't mind it because they're more focused on being outside rather than being cooped up in buildings and malls. It's a calm and quiet place but you can find excitement if you look for it.
I mean, no amount of negative statements like "Perth is such a boring city to live in" or "There's nothing here." will ever change my mind, and yes there will be statements saying, "Oh just you wait." and I'll let you know that I've been living staying at home for the past year after SPM and nothing gets more boring than that. It's just the perfect balance between "Peace and quiet to study" and "Weekend fun, let's go out!". My main goal here is to study, so it's better if the place is more study oriented rather than having entertainment on every corner.
Okay, I'll write some more soon ( probably when I'm not lazy haha)
