There are basically a few steps and applications that I normally use for my Instagram photos.
- I normally use the app called " VSCOcam" and it's not something new to the Appstore (but the Apple Appstore has it earlier than Google Playstore) and the other app I typically use it called "Snapseed" and this app is a Google app so it's available in both appstores.
- The first app which is VSCOcam is where I choose my filters and where I edit the colours and feel of the picture. By 'feel' I'm referring to the way it looks by the colours, contrast and fade it has and how it matches the other pictures in my Instagram feed.
- The second app, Snapseed, is used when I need a spot that needs to be brighten or I need a space to be as bright and white as possible.
Now that I have explained the applications that I use and what's it for, let me show you the steps on how I edit.
- First, go to Snapseed and pick the tool that's called "Selective" and tap on the space you want to brighten. You just slide your finger right or left to increase or decrease the brightness. When you're happy with the brightness, save the image.
- Next, you need to launch the VSCOcam app and load the previous image that you edited from Snapseed. You tap the "+" icon to add a new photo to edit.
- Double tap or tap on the picture and then tap on the wrench icon to begin editing. There are loads of filters that are free and you can purchase more in the VSCO store.
- As for filter, you can maintain a neat Instagram feed by using similar filters on your pictures but for me, I like my pictures to be bright, clean and has a slight pinkish tint to it.
- I would tap on the wrench icon (brush icon is for filters) and tap on the dropper tool and bump it up to +1 or +2 (depending on the picture)
- Also, at the moment, my favourite filters are SE3, HB1, S2, and A8.
- Tip: You can change the filter strength and you don't actually need to use the strongest, a little bit goes a long way.
- Finally, when you're done, you could either save to your gallery or directly import it to Instagram from the application.
And there you have it, ways I edit my Instagram photos (any photo actually). If you're looking to have that consistent feed look, just remember to use the same techniques and filters on all the photos you posts and also to make sure that the colour scheme in your pictures are roughly the same. As in, if your photo as a lot of white in it, all your photos should have whites in them too to make it look more neater and consistent.
Anyhow, you should always remember that it's all just for pleasure and shouldn't be taken too seriously, I mean unless it's your job to have a consistent feed.
